The 1990s were filled with so much excitement and
exhilaration. Man, it was the decade like none other and we relished
every drop of it. Who can forget those amazing Dallas Cowboys who
dominated pro football in the early 1990s? And what about their
sensational quarterback Troy Aikman and their elusive and tough running
back Emmett Smith? They won championships and went on to win not one
but two Super Bowls. Wow! For a moment they could've almost made you
forget about Roger Staubach and Tony Dorsett and the Dallas Cowboys of
that era. Almost.
The 1990s also ushered in a new era in politics. William Bill
Clinton became president of the United States in 1992 and went on to
serve two terms along with his wife Hillary Clinton. They brought new
meaning to the phrase ‘working together’. Hillary
proved to be an adept politician who was comfortable working with the
president’s cabinet members as well as Congress as a whole;
never before had a president wife had such an impact on the way things
were done in Washington like Hillary Clinton had.
In the 1990s there was war in the gulf as the United States
faced down Sadam Hussein and the Iraqi forces in the Persian Gulf.
There was so much going on in that era until it still takes your breath
away just to reminisce about it all. There were some beautiful and
tender moments and there were some hilarious moments as well. Looking
back one thing is for sure the 1990s was filled with everything that
makes a decade memorable.
However, sad to say there was one aspect of that era that was
truly troubling and still leaves a bad taste in my mouth to this day.
Back in the
1990s men who struggled with urinary incontinence were "stuck
between a rock and a hard place." For many who really needed
help it was just about taboo to even mention that you had a problem
with your bladder and that you couldn’t hold your urine. Very few
had even heard of the term “prostatectomy” not to
mention “prostatitis.” And to add insult to injury
manufacturers of urinary incontinence products all but ignored the male
population that suffered with urinary incontinence.
Men who suffered with urinary incontinence for the most part
had to fend for themselves because at best they could only try to
squeeze into female incontinence products. For many men this was all
but impossible and it left them to face down their urinary incontinence
problem all alone. To compensate some men went about designing and
constructing their own ‘garage made version’of
incontinence diapers, underpants, underwear, guards and even protective
briefs.
Oh for sure, those home-made incontinence products were crude
and very conspicuous but what was a guy to do? After all, huge
corporations that manufactured incontinence products for women all but
ignored men. In the latter part of the 1990s some urinary incontinence
manufacturers introduced a ‘unisex’ product for
both men and women but it really was just a half attempt to appease the
male market and it still left most men who suffered with urinary
incontinence “all wet.”
But that was then and this is now. Today manufacturers have
not only gotten the word but they have made a complete turn around in
their approach to marketing incontinence products to men.
It’s almost unbelievable to see all the new and innovative
incontinence products that are now available for men. The selection is
wide and varied and it is easy to see that a whole lot of thought and
research has gone into the designs and development of these products.
Where there was practically no companies interested in the male
incontinence market, now there are many manufacturers who spend large
sums of money to develop (research and development) new and better
incontinence products to help men live a more dignified and confident
existence without the devastation that can result from public as well
as intimate settings where unwanted urine expulsion or urine leakage
might occur.
It doesn’t matter what type of occupation
you’re in or your surroundings; there are
incontinence products to help protect and manage your incontinence.
Whether it’s fecal and/or urinary incontinence there are products
expertly designed and engineered to help you stay dry and clean (and
smell good-hygenics) without the humiliation and degradation associated
with incontinence. There are products available like: men absorbent
diapers, absorbent
pads, disposable diapers, disposable underwear, disposable briefs,
portable urinals or travel johns, depends briefs, guards, soft plastic
underwear, and the list goes on and on.
Male urinary incontinence products as well as incontinence
products in general have come a very long way in just ten years. And to
make it even better, to purchase these products you don’t
even have to leave the comfort of your own home. For the most part male
incontinence products can be delivered to your front door.
Yes it’s true, the 1990s was a great time to be
alive and enjoy life to the fullest, but today is so much better in
practically every way, especially when it comes to men incontinence
products. It’s great to know that now incontinence product
manufacturers are not only producing male oriented incontinence
products, but they are going the extra mile to make sure what we need
and what we want is available and ready for action. Now this is the
kind of stuff great memories are made of.
